What can I do to make the process easier?

Try to be reasonable and cooperate as much as possible with your soon-to-be-ex.  Reasonable compromise yields quicker and easier results in divorce cases.

Always keep your children in mind. Support your children through this process. It's even tougher on them than on you.

Don’t hide any property or assets. Don’t "give away" property to friends or relatives and arrange to get it back later.

Don’t make any big changes in your life right now. Don’t make plans to take a job in another state or to move out of the country until all issues are resolved.

Don’t violate any temporary custody or visitation arrangements. It could make it tougher for you to get the custody or visitation rights you prefer.

If something upsets you or doesn’t make sense to you ask your attorney.  Don’t assume that what the other side tells you is true.  Again, if you have the slightest doubt, ask your attorney.
